Matthew Kaopio, Hawaiian author (fwd)

dear folks, i'm sitting here at noenoe's in manoa, and she has just
introduced me to a Hawaiian writer i hadn't heard of before. this
morning, i read his novel, _written in the sky_, published by mutual
publishing in honolulu, and i'm really impressed. i think the more this
young man writes (he also paints--holding brushes in his mouth--he was
paralyzed in a diving accident), the more shining he's going to become.
by the end of _written in sky_ (and i'm not saying it's a perfect book), i
began feeling the way i feel when i read _the true story of kaluahikoolau
by his wife piilani_--like reading a prayer.
